Sir,

I have read the statement prepared by the Chairman of the Jubilee Committee carefully, and will as briefly as possible refer to such paragraphs as seem to call for remarks from me.

2. Though scarcely coming under the category, the subscriptions having been collected before I arrived in the Colony.

I think paragraph 11 is not quite correct, I have seen reference subscription lists on which No 3 and have been assured by more than one subscriber that he knew nothing of this resolution and would not have subscribed.
